The day I met Stephen Colbert! This was the Vancouver BC Canadan Olympic week and Stephen Colbert decided to crash the party…LOL. For some unknow reason I heard about Stephen coming to visit Vancouver and in walking distance from my place, I could hardly resist this opportunity. It was the night before and I decided to create a painting of him to autograph. It took a very long time, but I was determined to get the job done before he got there. I worked most of the night to finish the piece and lay down for a few hours nap before Guy got home. Poor Guy worked all night and didn’t get a chance to sleep before I roped him into helping me hold the painting up for the day.
First was the news interviewing me about my painting, asking if I was a big fan, things like that. This was being broadcast live on the news so that was pretty cool for me! Right away friends started calling and texting my phone saying they saw me on the news.
It was such a long day standing around waiting for Stephen to come out and autograph my painting so we could leave. Finally he did and we chatted for a few minutes about the painting, then he was off and his crew came over to take pictures with my work.
What an exciting day!
